Installation of "SD card driver update 1" on the mPower ------------------------------------------------------- The Windows CE 4.2 SD card driver has a limitation that doesn't let you use all of the available space on SD cards of size 2GB or larger. Cards of this size use a slightly non-standard setting to allow capacities of greater than 1GB to be created. We've introduced support for these cards at the request of our users. Devices now supported include: - Sandisk Ultra II 2GB SD card - Transcend 4GB SD card This update applies to all BrailleNote mPower models running KeySoft Version 6.2 and upwards. This package will be incorporated into the next KeySoft release. To allow the SD cards to be used on existing units, HumanWare has released a driver installation package. There are two parts to the package: 1. A file called installer.exe that allows new driver files to be installed. 2. The packaged drivers (in this case called "SD card driver update 1.exe"). The first part of the package is the installer file which only needs to be run once - so if you install further sets of drivers for more devices, you don't have to run installer.exe again. Don't worry if you accidentally run it again, it won't cause any problems. The second part contains the driver files for a specific device. When you run "SD card driver update 1", the files are copied to your Flash Disk so you won't lose them if you perform a 4-5-6 or service reset, or let the unit run out of battery power. Detailed instructions for installing the driver files follow. 1. Download the two files, install.exe and SD card driver update 1.exe, from http://www.humanware.com/Resources/drivers.asp. If downloading on the BrailleNote or VoiceNote, place the files in the root directory of the Flash Disk. If you're downloading the files using a PC, it may be simpler to copy the files to removable media, for example an SD or CF card or USB Flash drive, and then to put this in your unit and run them from that drive. Where the instructions below refer to the Flash Disk, instead use the particular drive with the two files on it. 2. Run installer.exe by proceeding as follows: a. From the Main Menu, select "Utilities", by pressing U. b. From the Utilities Menu, select "Application Program", by pressing A. KeySoft displays "Run program from which drive? Press Enter for Flash Disk". c. Select the Flash Disk, by pressing Enter. KeySoft displays "Directory name? press Enter for /". d. Select the root directory, by pressing Enter. KeySoft displays "Program name?" e. Review the List of Programs by pressing SPACE repeatedly until you get to "Installer". Select Installer, by pressing Enter. KeySoft displays "Command line?" f. Press Enter. g. Follow the given instructions to start the installation. You will be returned to the Utilities Menu while the installation progresses. h. Once KeySoft tells you that the installation is complete, press Enter. 3. In a similar way, run "SD card driver update 1.exe" as follows: a. KeySoft displays "Directory name? press Enter for /". c. Select the root, by pressing Enter. d. Review the List of Programs by pressing SPACE repeatedly until you get to "SD card driver update 1". e.
