Version 4.8 Release Notes

The latest free software update for the Victor Reader Stream digital talking book player is version 4.8.  It may be downloaded from:

http://www.humanware.com/support

Here you will find additional resources including the Stream User Guide, FAQ, tutorials, and a link listing samples of “Where to find content for your Stream”.

After you install the new software, this Release Notes document will also be saved to a HumanWare folder in the text bookshelf on your Stream SD card.

Software Installation Instructions:

If the Victor Reader Stream has been configured to connect to a wireless network, the software update will be detected the next time the Stream is connected to the network and the online bookshelves are accessed.  The Stream will prompt you to download the update and will install it automatically.

It is also possible to install the update via the free HumanWare Companion software for the PC. From the Help menu, select “Check for Stream update”.

Alternatively the update can be downloaded and installed manually.

The update software is a single file ending in UPG. To update your Stream manually:

1.    Download this UPG file from HumanWare at the above link.

2.    Copy the file to the root of an SD card.

3.    Power on the Stream and then connect it to a power source.

4.    The software update will start automatically. The installation process takes about 2 minutes during which the Stream will issue periodic progression messages. The Stream will announce when the update is complete, and then power off.

5.    When you power the Stream back on, you can confirm the new version number by pressing the INFO key (0).
