Our speaker for this event, Alison Gammage, is a specialist
in the integration of technology for individuals with learning
disabilities. She is a renowned presenter who is able to explain
the benefits of different tools that will help these individuals
to reach their full potential.
The goal of this presentation is to show what can happen after
the implementation of assistive technology for students in high
school and to remind you of the things to consider when supporting
students with learning disabilities.
The presentation will take an in-depth look at the lives of 30
severely learning disabled students after a year's implementation
of assistive technology and it's appropriate use. With this school
and students not having used assistive technology support in the
past, what can we learn from this experience?
Learn how this project changed the lives of these individuals.
Hear their observations, comments and understand the potential
for future successes from the findings of this year long study.
Participants will learn:
Who were the students selected? (ie not just non readers)
What was the pedagogy of implementation?
What were the struggles and highlights?
What technology was used in the research?
What did the testing indicate after 8 months of use?
What changes were recommended for future implementation?
