Installation
Starting with the current version, there will only be one installation for all platforms and configurations. Upon identification of your platform and the program configuration (Trekker and Maestro, Trekker Solo or Maestro Solo), the installation program will install the appropriate Maestro and/or Trekker application on your PDA. Please make sure to follow the onscreen procedure also described below. It can also be found in the Companion CD Read Me file.
To upgrade your Maestro or Trekker Solo application, please do not perform a hard reset beforehand as this will result in the loss of the authentication key. To begin installation, please follow this procedure:
1. Turn off the Bluetooth radio
2. Check the memory available on your PDA: to perform the upgrade, an HP iPAQ 4150 requires 5 MB, a Dell X50 requires 5 MB and a Dell X51 or IPAQ hx2490b requires 25 MB.
3. Exit the Maestro or Trekker Solo application
4. Remove all memory cards, except for the HP 4150. On this platform the SD card must be inserted.
5. Perform a soft reset using the stylus.
6. Establish an ActiveSync guest partnership.
7. Execute the Maestro or Trekker install option on the Install CD menu or, if installing from a download image, execute the Setup.exe file.
The Maestro and Trekker Solo installation procedure takes 2 to 3 minutes to transfer files to the PDA. This is followed by a finish dialog on your PC. However, the installation is not yet complete at this point, as it has just started on the PDA itself. When PDA installation is completed, Maestro will launch automatically. If you are performing an upgrade, the PDA will reboot twice during this process and Maestro/Trekker Solo will launch after the second reboot. In case Maestro/Trekker does not launch automatically, press the System bar key to start the application after you hear the last ActiveSync connection sound.
Notes:
1. On the HP 4150 and the X50 platforms, Maestro applications, including all Help files, will move respectively to the SD card or the Built-in Storage compartments after the first Maestro launch. This could take up to 5 minutes the first time Maestro is launched. Please be patient. Disconnecting the USB cable after first device reboot can accelerate installation and file copy.
2. The installation should not be performed while synchronizing events. In the ActiveSync settings window, uncheck all programs to be synchronized. Alternatively, cancel your partnership and establish a Guest partnership. To establish a Guest partnership, press Cancel or Escape once the Partnership window pops-up.
